Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated that justice for the casualties in the July incidents will be ensured on the nation’s soil. However, he also emphasized the need to be cautious so that no one is wronged in the judicial process. He added that efforts to ensure proper justice for the real culprits would continue, even if there is some delay.

He made these remarks on Saturday (July 4) at the ‘July National Conference’ held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in Agargaon. The event was organized in remembrance of the martyrs of the July mass uprising.

Tarique Rahman said that the government is committed to remembering the sacrifices of the July martyrs and the contributions of the injured. He stated that it is the government’s responsibility to properly evaluate, rehabilitate, and provide assistance to those martyred and injured in the movement.

He further added, “The government is working to ensure the highest honor and recognition for the martyrs and to improve the living standards of the injured.”

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said that those who sacrificed in the July movement aimed to improve the living standards of the people of the country. The achievement of August 5 is not that of any individual or party, but rather the collective achievement of all democracy-loving people of the nation.

Emphasizing national unity, he stated that it is not possible to advance the country by dividing it. Those who made sacrifices did so for the future of the nation. He addressed the family members of the martyrs present, urging that the sacrifices of their loved ones be made meaningful through the development of the country.

He also shared personal sentiments, mentioning the late Begum Khaleda Zia and Arafat Rahman Koko, and said that the main goal should be to advance the country, not personal revenge.

During the event, family members of the martyrs and the injured shared their experiences and hardships. It was also mentioned that the Prime Minister’s eyes welled up with tears upon hearing their speeches.

The event commenced at 10:30 AM with a recitation from the Holy Quran. This was followed by prayers in memory of the martyrs, the national anthem, and the screening of a documentary on the ‘July Movement’.

At the conference, held under the theme ‘Bangladesh First,’ commemorative mementos were presented to the family members of the martyrs. Subsequently, the organizers also presented a memento to the Prime Minister.

Many dignitaries, including various ministers, members of parliament, political leaders, foreign diplomats, and senior military and civil officials, were present at the event.
